You find yourself on a cobble stone road in a small city somewhere in Europe. The stones are wet and the air smells clean after last night’s gentle rain. It is dusk and the sunlight sits low on the horizon, glowing yellow and orange. Across the road is a large stone building that appears to be an old playhouse. You notice many people walking to the playhouse to see a musical that will open tonight.
Not too far is a river running through the small city, and to get a closer look you walk to a short wall overlooking the wide river. Small glowing lights from homes across the way shimmer on the water. You discover on the wall a beautiful mask painted with shades of gold, bronze, and white. Someone must have left it there, perhaps on their way to the musical. You pick up the mask gently. It fits your face perfectly. For a moment you sense the thrill of appearing dramatic and striking, hiding behind a beautiful face as people walk by. As you take the mask off you can’t help but smile, feeling the fun and excitement of the culture around you.
You watch the river for a long time, letting all your worries flow away. You realize that nothing in life is worth losing yourself for. You feel stress flow away, and your sadness flow away. There is a large boat covered with white lights floating down the river. Many people are chatting and having a good time on the boat. Watching them makes you realize life is precious, and should be enjoyed with others, not alone. Their laughter in the night warms your heart, and you promise to find something positive in your own life.
